White Rock Lake

White Rock Lake was formed to be a water source for the surrounding area, but it has become so much more than that. It has become a home away from home for so many Dallas residents who enjoy kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding.

The lake is surrounded by over nine miles of trails for hiking, biking, running and cycling. It serves as part of the yearly Dallas Marathon route that is ran every year in December. The marathon is considered a top 10 in the country and also serves as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. The Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is the beneficiary of the marathon.

Over the years, White Rock Lake has become more than just a recreation area. Along with east shore, you’ll find CCC/POW Camp Sites and Baseball Diamonds, White Rock Lake Museum, picnic areas, and Dixon’s Bay, the best spot on the lake to watch the sunset at night. To the west, residents enjoy taking their pets to run at the off-leash Mockingbird Dog Park, catch up on history with the historical markers along the trail, and fish off of the Garland Road Fishing Pier.
